Evidence Based Compliance

What is Evidence-based Compliance?

Organizations must demonstrate compliance.

In and of itself, having a compliance program does not demonstrate compliance. Many organizations strive for compliance through the implementation of policies and procedures that follow guidelines issued by industry organizations and government watchdogs; however, when investigated or subpoenaed for information, it is only then that an organization realizes it has insufficient evidence to demonstrate that its compliance program is effective. Evidence-based Compliance is the implementation of systems and procedures that enforce and create strong evidence of compliance with company policy.

Providing the Required Evidence

Anti-kickback and fraud enforcement is at an all-time high and government enforcers (e.g., OIG and DoJ) have consistently said that companies must implement meaningful internal controls in order to show effective compliance. Most Corporate Integrity Agreements are now mandating the use of “Arrangements Databases” as a mechanism for organizations to monitor their regulated activities. R-Squared has combined these government recommendations with industry best practices to create a next generation compliance solution in Arrangements Keeper ® that connects with other enterprise systems, automates workflows, and continually gathers in one location all supporting evidence of compliance. This solution is used to evidence compliance by several organization that have had government settlements.
